The final report from the SE Decarbonization Workshop, has been published by Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Georgia Tech Strategic Energy Institute.
The Workshop’s goals were to develop decarbonization strategies, strengthen our networks for addressing decarbonization in the SE, and develop partnership principles.
During the workshop, 157 participants discussed how to pursue a clean energy future for the SE. To facilitate and document the 4 café conversations, ~30 grad students (mostly from the Georgia Tech School of Public Policy) worked as participating scribes).
Findings from these conversations are now available in the Workshop Report, including priority decarbonization solutions shown in figure below.
The report also highlights productive partnerships that are already underway:
· Heat Pumps: From the Lab to the Marketplace
· Hydrogen Partnerships are Critical
· Mass Timber and Sustainable Construction as Growth Sectors
· Sustainable Aviation Fuel from Bio-Based Resources
There are many more decarbonization opportunities in the SE and great partners to pursue them.
