A 5-part seminar series sponsored by Georgia Tech’s Climate and Energy Policy Laboratory
This seminar series will discuss the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which will shape the debate about climate change for years to come. Scientists, technology experts, economists and policy makers are evaluating this report to assess its implications.
With the approval of the Summary for Policy Makers in November 2014, the Plenary of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) closed a five-year long period during which more than 800 scientists reviewed the literature on the science, impacts and the mitigation of climate change. This process produced the Fifth Assessment Report of the IPCC.
The Climate and Energy Policy Laboratory (CEPL) of the School of Public Policy at the Georgia Institute of Technology has organized a series of five meetings to provide objective, accurate and updated information to understand the key messages of the Report and its implications for the ongoing climate negotiations.
The CEPL has invited field experts and IPCC authors to provide their view on the three main sections of the Report: the science of climate change, impacts and adaptation and mitigation. An introductory meeting will present and discuss the main findings of the Report. A final meeting will host a round table in which local stakeholders will discuss the implications of the Report for the US climate policy, for the international climate negotiations and for local business and communities.
